The Chapin Sisters-Two

Posted November 9, 2010 By admin

The first time I’d ever heard a Chapin Sisters song was when I heard their cover of the Britney Spears song “Toxic” and thought it was brilliant. I looked up more information about them, mostly because their last name had me intrigued. Sure enough, they are related to Harry Chapin, one of my favorite singer/songwriters. From there I checked out their album Lake Bottom LP and fell in love with the rest of their music. The Chapin Sisters are now back with a new CD, titled Two. The group is one member less as Jessica took a leave of absence to take care of her new baby earlier this year. The new album is haunting and beautiful, and the songwriting has improved since their last album. Highlights from this album for me are: “Digging A Hole”, “I Can Feel”, and “Palm Tree”, but the whole album is consistently great and is basically a journey through all of the emotion these two are feeling, and will leave you emotionally drained in the best possible way and wanting more at the end.

Picks Of The Week

Posted November 7, 2010 By admin

Not a very good week for listening to new music considering the hospital stay in the middle of it, but I got some new stuff in. Hopefully next week will be better in regards to that. Awesome day today for the Vikings by the way, one of the most exciting games of the year in my opinion, which offset the crushing the Wolves took after that.

  • Spread Love-Nneka
  • Old Devil Moon-Jamie Cullum
  • Mojo So Dope-Kid Cudi
  • Boots Of Spanish Leather-Nanci Griffith
  • Freaks! Freaks!-Pigeon John

Short absence

Posted November 5, 2010 By admin

Sorry about the short absence the last few days. I was in the hospital Wednesday and Thursday having more surgery on my lung to remove some lumps that need to be tested for cancer again. I thought I would have the energy to post on Thursday, but I was just so drained it was the last thing on my mind, and sleeping was the first. A lot of things happened and I feel out the loop even though it was only two days away from the internet. One of the most well-known and beloved MLB managers ever, Sparky Anderson, passed away, Randy Moss was picked up by the Titans, the 2010 MN Governor election will be headed for a recount, although I was able to catch the Timberwolves worst loss in franchise history on the hospital TV, I think that’s one event I would have rather missed out on. Also, today Ryan Adams announced a new website to go along with a much-anticipated new album, and a hint of tour dates at some point. Also, on a personal note, me and my wife adopted another guinea pig on Tuesday, to go along with the one we already had. I’ll post some pictures in the next few days of both of them, their names are Piglet and Winnie. Well, I think I’m about all caught up on the happenings of the last few days. I’ll leave you with some pictures I took on Monday of a church in the area I thought were really cool. I’ve been really interested in HDR for a while as well, so I did some post processing using Photmatix. Some people hate the cartoonish look using HDR, but I for one love the effect, it adds a lot of character to the picture. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Enjoy!
