An update

Last time I posted I talked about Mega Upload going down and having to replace all those links. I am about halfway done with those, I will hopefully be done within a week or so if everything works out right. Another thing I have been thinking about and debating with myself about are other files linked to from here. It has been my goal to make everything I’ve promoted and uploaded here available as long as possible, which means even my second post ever still has active links to download. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just becoming too great of a risk to continue doing that. With the recent take down of Mega Upload and a few other sites limiting their functions, as well as a few Bit Torrent sites shutting down, the writing is on the wall, digital copyright is going to probably end up ruining the way of discovering music as we know it right now. I doubt the music business will thrive like executives are assuming it will because piracy will (apparently) slow down, I expect it to actually go downhill even more, because there will always be ways to copy music and pass it around for free, but now they’ve just managed to piss off people even more than usual and I think it will have dire consequences for the music industry. Anyways, sorry to go off on a tangent like that. Basically, what it boils down to is this: I will no longer be keeping links to MP3’s alive unless they are the front page of the blog (the first 7 posts). However, all links to live shows, demos, etc. (basically anything that isn’t covered by copyright law, or is very fuzzy on how it is covered) will still be active as long as I can help it. It is still my goal to post about great new (and old) music and hopefully create some new fans for artists who are deserving of recognition. Below are a few links to visit to find out how you can do more to fight against bills such as SOPA and PIPA, as well as hurt the RIAA where it hurts the most, their wallets.
