Samantha Crain- Kid Face
This album is one of my favorite discoveries of the year. I subscribe to many music blogs, and honestly, I rarely find anything new worth listening to. But it’s albums like this that keep me coming back to them. I stumbled upon Samantha Crain’s Kid Face on one such blog, and I was really blown away by the quality of it. The songwriting here is way beyond her 27 years, and the music complements the mood perfectly. This is a honest album, at points referring to a regretful past, and also feelings of not being worthy of affection and love. After hearing Kid Face, I made it a point to search out Samantha’s other albums, and listening from the first to this one in order, you can hear the progression and maturity, evolving into a songwriter capable of putting her emotions on the line for everyone else to share. Anyone looking for the Carole King of this generation, I implore you to give Samantha Crain a chance, you won’t regret it.
