Phil Everly

Phil EverlyI know I’m a bit late on this, but I figured better late than never. Phil Everly passed away 10 days ago, and with his death, the music world lost one half of a legendary group. I’ll admit, I’m not an enormous Everly Brothers fan, but I enjoy them and can appreciate their impact on music. Their amazing harmony’s created some of the most memorable songs in history, including their signature song “All I Have To Do Is Dream“. Their music influenced some of my favorite artists, including The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Bob Dylan. They also toured with Buddy Holly and were a huge influence on him as well. A lesser known group that I recently wrote about, The Chapin Sisters, were also moved enough by The Everly Brothers to do a tribute album to them last year, and it really shows how their influence is still alive today and will be for years to come. Phil’s presence in this world will be missed by fans across the world, and it’s unlikely we will ever see a group with such beautiful harmonies again. Here are a few of my favorite tracks from The Everly Brothers.
