Best Albums of 2016

Posted January 1, 2017 By admin

The time has come to rank the best albums of the past year. It’s been a year of loss, as many great musicians have passed, some very near and dear to my heart. Some great music was made though, and that’s what will always keep the memories of musicians alive. I’m sure some of the albums below will be new to some people, and some will be very familiar. Hopefully the ones that are new to you will inspire you to seek them out and give them a chance, and the ones you already know will inspire you to revisit them at some point. Before I get to the top 10, here are some honorable mentions that just missed the cut but deserve to be listened to:

And now, the top 10:

10. Hayes Carll-Lovers and Leavers

9. Sarah Jarosz-Undercurrent

8. Anoushka Shankar-Land Of Gold

7. Benjamin Francis Leftwich-After The Rain

6. Romantica-Shadowlands

5. The Cactus Blossoms-You’re Dreaming

4. Loretta Lynn-Full Circle

3. The Pines-Above The Prairie

2. Bob Dylan-Fallen Angels

1. Leonard Cohen-You Want It Darker

Best songs of 2013

Posted January 1, 2014 By admin

Well, it’s a couple days later than I planned, but here are the best songs of 2013. The reason I am late posting this is that in the past I try to pick whatever songs can fit on 2 CD’s. It was time consuming narrowing them down that way, and at some point I figured why limit myself. I’m probably the last person who still uses CD’s anyways, so I just figured I will pick whatever songs I want, and not worry about limits like that. So, here are my favorite songs of 2013:

  • Just To Make Me Feel Good – Adam Green & Binki Shapiro
  • About Farewell – Alela Diane
  • Nothing On Me – Alexz Johnson
