Besides music, one of my big hobbies is photography. I’m not an expert by any means, my equipment is a lower end DSLR (Rebel XTi) and a basic lens, but I enjoy taking pictures of anything I find interesting. Here are some pictures I’ve snapped over the past few weeks that I thought some people might find interesting as well. Just click on any picture to view a larger version of it. I’ll include a description of each of them as well:

1. This is an old abandoned building at the county fairgrounds across the highway from where I live. It was snowing at the time, which is what the white specks are in the foreground, but I think it adds to the picture.

2. This picture is actually right behind the building in the above picture. This was last week during a big snowstorm, as you can see, there is no ground to be seen in the area.

3. This was at the Doomtree concert I attended a couple weeks ago. This picture was taken with my point and shoot, so the quality isn’t as good, but I thought the lighting was so cool, I had to share it.

4. This was taken at a Minnesota Gophers hockey game. The game ended in a tie, but my wife and I still had a blast. She had never been to a hockey game, so it was a cool experience.

5. This is my sister, Megan. She is 8 months old and always laughs when I take pictures of her which makes it easy.

6. This was taken at a Minnesota Timberwolves game. My wife and I have gone to too many games to count since we’ve been together. They are struggling right now, but we always have fun, it’s a good, fun date night and hopefully the team will be improving soon.

Short absence

Posted November 5, 2010 By admin

Sorry about the short absence the last few days. I was in the hospital Wednesday and Thursday having more surgery on my lung to remove some lumps that need to be tested for cancer again. I thought I would have the energy to post on Thursday, but I was just so drained it was the last thing on my mind, and sleeping was the first. A lot of things happened and I feel out the loop even though it was only two days away from the internet. One of the most well-known and beloved MLB managers ever, Sparky Anderson, passed away, Randy Moss was picked up by the Titans, the 2010 MN Governor election will be headed for a recount, although I was able to catch the Timberwolves worst loss in franchise history on the hospital TV, I think that’s one event I would have rather missed out on. Also, today Ryan Adams announced a new website to go along with a much-anticipated new album, and a hint of tour dates at some point. Also, on a personal note, me and my wife adopted another guinea pig on Tuesday, to go along with the one we already had. I’ll post some pictures in the next few days of both of them, their names are Piglet and Winnie. Well, I think I’m about all caught up on the happenings of the last few days. I’ll leave you with some pictures I took on Monday of a church in the area I thought were really cool. I’ve been really interested in HDR for a while as well, so I did some post processing using Photmatix. Some people hate the cartoonish look using HDR, but I for one love the effect, it adds a lot of character to the picture. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Enjoy!

Catching up

Posted September 6, 2010 By admin

It’s been a while since I updated the blog, and quite a few things musically have been happening. First off, the Picks Of The Week feature will return shortly. My computer died and I brought it to get repaired and it was gone for over a week, so I haven’t added anything to my computer for a while, so I once I am able to do that again I will continue the feature. Secondly, the state fair was here the last week and a half, and there were plenty of free concerts I was able to attend there. I have included pictures and video below to some of the ones I went to. Pictures in the gallery are in the following order:

Romantica

Maria Isa

Billy McLaughlin

Rosanne Cash

Dessa

I also went to Boyz II Men, unfortunately none of my pictures turned out worthwhile, but here’s some videos:

In other music news, there are some exciting new releases that have come out recently and will be coming out in the near future.

Goo Goo Dolls-Something For The Rest Of Us
Brian Wilson-Reimagines Gershwin
David Gray-Foundling
Atmosphere-To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy: The Atmosphere EPs
Bob Dylan-Witmark Demos
Pete Yorn-Self-Titled

It looks like it should be an exciting last half or so of the year for music, and I still have a few more concerts left on the schedule so keep a look out for some more reviews and pictures.
