Ron Sexsmith-Out Of The Duff

Posted March 8, 2011 By admin

“Out Of The Duff was a cassette that I recorded with another songwriter friend named Claudio and basically the first side was my songs and the 2nd side were all his. We worked as treeplanters together (which is where the title comes from). My problem with record was I was young and over excited to be in a recording studio and so I was really over-singing on my songs. ”
-Ron Sexsmith

This is from a CD-copy made from a cassette copy of the original, so it is third generation. As a result, the sound, while still very good, may not be as sharp as the original must sound. These are Ron’s part of the cassette.

  1. Hey Rose
  2. Burn it to the ground
  3. On the beach
  4. Dream car
  5. Waiting

Picks Of The Week

Posted March 6, 2011 By admin

First off, let me start off by apologizing for the lack of posts this past week. I caught the flu bug, and add a little twist of the cold and you have a horrible combination. I just didn’t have the energy to do much, including blog. I seem to be getting over it, so hopefully this week will be better. Secondly, Record Store Day is just right around the corner (April 16th), and this year will see more releases than any past years, with over 200 and counting so far. To check out all the expected RSD releases, check this link. I’m looking forward to trying to grab the Ryan Adams record, as well as the Gram Parsons/Emmylou 7″. What are you looking forward to getting? Make sure to get to your local record stores early as these releases are available in limited quantity. Be sure to support your independent record store year round as well, there are some pretty amazing ones out there. As far as the Picks Of The Week, I won’t be putting up many songs as I wasn’t able to listen to much new music this past week, but I will say the new Ron Sexsmith album is amazing, definitely check that out when you get a chance.

  • Own Side- Caitlin Rose
  • Profit & Loss- Doomtree
  • God Only Knows- Jamie Cullum
  • Believe It When I See It- Ron Sexsmith
  • Troubadour- Tim Buckley
  • Yonkers- Tyler, The Creator

A look forward to 2011

Posted January 4, 2011 By admin

Now that we’ve said goodbye to 2010, it’s time to look ahead to 2011 and see what album releases are in store. Here are some I am looking forward to that are either rumored, confirmed or I am just hopeful about.

What albums are you looking forward to this year?
