Ryan Adams
Northrop Auditorium
Minneapolis, MN

–Audience Recording using Zoom H2 rear internal mics >SD Card>PC>Adobe Audition>CD Wave Editor (split tracks)>TLH>FLAC Level 8
-“A “MN Gneiss” recording”
-Feel free to re-master, share on any other torrent site, convert to MP3, just never ever sell it. Also, if you like this show, please support the artist by buying their music.

Decent recording, recorded from the second to last row in the auditorium. Apologies in advance for the guys next to me, one of them sings along to a few of the songs, not completely audible unless you are listening for it. The same guys felt the need to point out which album (incorrectly on quite a few) most of the songs were from after they were played. I tried minimizing the annoyances, but in some cases it would mean sacrificing the sound of the music, so I left those alone.

Jack White – Lazaretto

Posted October 9, 2014 By admin

Jack White - Lazaretto

Lazaretto is Jack Whites second solo album since his breakup of The White Stripes. I went into this album hesitantly, as I didn’t enjoy his first album as much like I had hoped to considering I was a huge fan of The White Stripes. While Lazaretto didn’t blow me away, it also didn’t disappoint me at all. It has some amazing songs, with “I Think I Found The Culprit“, “Temporary Ground” and “Would You Fight For My Love” being the standouts. Musically, Jack bounces all over the place on this album, incorporating blues, folk, and even some country stylings. He definitely wears his influences on his sleeve, which suits me just fine. On top of being a great musician and lyricist, he is also a great salesman. Like I said earlier,  I had been disappointed by his first solo album. Even knowing that, before I even heard this album I bought Lazaretto based on the vinyl “gimmicks” alone. I’m a huge record collector, and this one was right up my alley. There are too many features to list here, but check out this link for the rundown. Thankfully, the money spent on the vinyl was money well spent for me. This will definitely be on my end of the year list, and I would encourage anyone looking for a starting point with Jack Whites solo work to start here.

I know some of you may be saying “an article on JoJo, really”? Yes, she may be best known as the singer of a few teen pop hits back in the early 2000’s, but she also possesses one of the more powerful voices in music today. And she is about to be back with a new album after a long legal fight with her old record label. But until then, she recently released a free short EP titled #Love Jo that really highlights her growth. It’s a EP of 3 covers that shows her appreciation of a past generation of musicians. It starts out with Anita Baker’s “Caught Up In The Rapture“, with a driving R & B beat that supports and showcases her voice beautifully. Next is the Phil Collins classic “Take Me Home“, that sounds enough like the original to keep the connection to it alive, but different enough to make it her own. Finally, we hear her version of “Glory“, which showcases JoJo’s ability to high even the highest of notes. This is hopefully just a taste of what’s to come, and I am really hoping her upcoming album delivers on her promising talent. You can download the EP for free here.
